Hello, New York. I am Elizabeth "Betsy" O'Hagan and I'm running for NYC Mayor. I am a 5th generation American and was born and raised in the Bronx. My Dad's roots go back to Ireland. He was a salesman his whole career. I am a graduate of Manhattan College, worked on Wall Street and as an FBI Special Agent. I was a first responder to the attacks of 9/11. I am proud to say I am from a family of NYPD and married into the same. I believe the NYPD and FDNY are the bravest and most courageous men and women in NYC.
I am also a proud, registered member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe from upstate New York. My relatives have helped build some of the most iconic parts of New York starting with the Tappan Zee Bridge and, as ironworkers, have helped construct many buildings in NYC. My Mom was a nurse - first at Columbia Presbyterian then later at the Hebrew Home For The Aged. My parents would have been married 59 years in 2021. I am the second of their four children. My husband also graduated from Manhattan College, and following a successful career with the NYCTA is now a full-time engineer.
If elected, I would be the first woman and first Native American to hold this office.
